Today I heard my mom's take on ghosts and it actually made me feel so much more at ease. I have always had a huge fear of ghosts ever since I was little because I used to watch those scary shows with my brother late at night that are like true stories about ghost encounters and stuff. I was told that my cousin went to a temple to get his fortune read and he was told that he was being followed by a ghost, a possible link to why his family has had such bad luck, which prompted his entire family to move to a different house because they were scared it was this guy who used to live there who had committed suicide (not in that house, though). His younger brother was also told once upon a time that he was being followed around by my paternal grandmother. All of this was totally creeping me out, but then my mom was saying how it wasn't really that big of a deal because all you have to do is burn some money for them and offer them food and ask nicely that they take it and enjoy it and leave you alone. Seriously, nothing can scare my momma. But on top of that, she was very skeptical because she thinks my cousin is probably just trying to find someone else to blame so it wasn't so creepy to her.
Anyway, on a totally unrelated aside, the video for this website totally made me cry. Just overturn Prop 8 already. It's so unfair to rob someone of their right to express love for another human being. Plus, it causes traffic when they protest, so letting them have what they want would really be a positive thing for everyone else.

I will walk 500 miles
A bit of an exaggeration, but today I had to walk from my work all the way to my apartment which took me about an hour. Where I usually get on the bus is where bus driver's switch off so I asked a bus driver where I could get on the bus back to UCLA. He told me no buses would be going to UCLA because the president's there. He proceeded to tell me I had a very good excuse for not going to class. Apparently all the people at that bus stop had been dropped off there by a bus driver and he just took off in another direction. Sucko. So I just started walking because there was nothing else I could do. At one point I was walking with this man who told me that the president wasn't even there and that he was just flying over but they had to clear out the area he was flying over, I guess. I don't really know but it totally sucked and I didn't bother going to class because I was late and my feet hurt because today I just happened to have no socks on in my sneakers because I stupidly locked Tom's door behind me before I remembered to put on socks.
All I know is that this has been a terrible week for traffic on top of LA's usual traffic. Monday was the L.A. Marathon, Tuesday the Prop 8 protests and today this, all of which were not broadcasted very well to the public. Then again, what do I know? I don't watch TV anymore, nor do I listen to the radio so maybe this is my fault. Tomorrow, I'm sure there will be a herd of elephants on the loose to cause another unsuspected L.A.-wide traffic jam. It's times like these that I wish Ciao Ciao would just love me and let me ride without dying out. I have had it for a month now and am still not allowed to ride to my apartment on it!
By the way, I was in the middle of the protesting yesterday. It was quite a shock because I had fallen asleep on the bus and woke up to a sea of people outside the windows in WeHo. Later at night it kind of sucked because Tom and I got stuck in traffic because the police had barricades all over and Tom's apartment was in the middle of it. Impatience took over and some illegal maneuvers were made and we finally made it home. There was so many helicopters in the sky it was like we were in the middle of a prison break! I wanted to ride Ciao Ciao over (that is, if it could make it that far) to the epicenter of excitement but we soon realized how scary and crazy everyone was driving and decided against it. I feel like traffic makes people feel like caged animals and when they are finally free they tend to run wild, another reason I do not want to drive a car.
By the way, Ciao Ciao has a new friend I like to call Garelli-felli, otherwise known as G. Pictures to be posted when we have some! Tom just got it Monday and it is super cool looking! :)!

Sport green laces!
Found this just now. It's kind of geared towards athletes and stuff, especially famous ones, to spread the word, but I think it's a really snazzy concept. Unfortunately, I very rarely wear shoes with shoelaces so I probably won't be buying these. Plus, I already have a pair of shoelaces that are made from post-consumer plastic. You can opt to just wear the laces like a bracelet like in the picture but I'd rather find a different way to show off my greenness. BUT if you wear shoelaces often, show off your love for Mother Earth by sporting some GreenLaces!

VROOOOOOM
Ciao Ciao has been back from the shop as of Thursday last week. Tom fell in love with the shop, by the way. I think he wants to marry the guys who run it. I have yet to visit, but it sounds really cool. It's a motorcyle shop called Choke in Silver Lake, which has been highly recommended by pretty much everyone Tom talked to about getting Ciao Ciao ready to go. So if you have any moped needs, you should definitely go there and see if they let you shoot their potato gun (I am just going by what the boyfriend told me about the place). I have ridden my bikie a couple times since it's been back. It's running really smooth and vroomy. I am so excited! Every time I wait for a bus now, I just think about how much more awesome it would be to be cruising on my orange moped. And I gotta thank my Blankey for taking care of him. :) He reads it bedtime stories and sings it to sleep and everything.
So all my gear is being shipped right now. Just ordered it all last week! Blankey got me a helmet that is pretty much exactly what I wanted (not posting any pics because I want it to be a surprise). Also got myself a jacket so I stay in one piece and some glovies! Yay!
